About School Apprenticeship Link (SAL)
The School Apprenticeship Link (SAL) is a new initiative in hairdressing, beauty & retail. Challenger TAFE is delivering this program to Vet for School students as a trade taster for hairdressing and beauty. The students attend Kolbe Catholic College, Lakelands High School, Applecross High School, Kwinana High School, Safety Bay HS, Marantha Christian College, Tranby College and Melville High School. They are in years 11 & 12. They have all been interviewed to be part of the program.
Project Participants Backgound
The project participants are based in the Fremantle area and work at the Beaconsfield & Cliff Street clinics and the Beaconsfield hairdressing salon. They are closely associated with the beauty or hairdressing industries.
The students live in Fremantle region.
Jodee Pereira has worked on many projects including CSSN, LearnScope and PDSP. She has a passion for learning technologies and exploring innovative ways to engage her students and assess.
Carolyn O’Connor and Andrea Quintal have worked on CSSN and LearnScope projects. Carolyn uses WebCT to deliver some of her courses.
In 2006, Jodee, Carolyn and Andrea attended professional development courses & presentations on mobile technologies (including PDAs) for delivery and assessment. They are keen to use PDAs in the beauty clinics and to enhance students learning in the classroom.
Narelle and Sue are relative newcomers to learning technologies and have expressed interest in developing innovative solutions for their work environments, which are, of course, very hands-on. Sue has attended some professional development workshops on using PhotoStory and MovieMaker to create training videos.
